Asus ZenBook vs. MacBook Air

MacBook Air has been deemed one of the thinnest, lightest and more portable laptop known. Well not for long. A new contender is in town, the Asus ZenBook. It starts at $999 for the 11.6 inch model, the UX21 which includes a 128 GB hybrid solid state drive, Intel i5 processor (with upgrades for the i7) and runs Windows 7 being less than an half an inch thick and under 2.5lbs. This things is lighter than a fricken' textbook.
It is a huge contender with the Macbook Air which more expensive for the comparable specs. The ZenBook includes a cool fuction called Instant On which allows to boot from standby to On in under 2 seconds and has the battery life to last 2 weeks on standby. Now you can't say your dumbass MacBook Air can do that!

New Tablet by T-Mobile: SpringBoard Tablet

I guess everyone has tablet fever. T-Mobile is trying to get a piece of the action by compete with the big hitters like iPad, but in a new ballpark of keeping the price low, below $200. T-Mobile has created the Springboard Tablet made to compete with Amazon's Kindle Fire Tablet to try and grab the everyday person to get addicted to the tablet trend.
The Springboard has a 7in sharp screen with a 1.2GHz dual core processor running Android's Honeycomb OS. It includes a back and front camera which the Amazon Fire doesn't have. It also has an HDMI, micro-USB and microSD slot in order to expand your storage an extra 32GB if need be. The HDMI port is new to tablets so you could potentially hook this bad boy up to a monitor and key board and mouse and bam its a computer.
It will be hitting the shelves during the holiday session so be sure to look for it in all the flyers and all online. But of course, make sure you tell them that you heard it here first.

Which iPhone 4S Cellular Plan is the cheapest?

So you want to pre-order the new iPhone 4S. But you also want to save some money because hell... you know its still a rescission so which plan and carrier do you go with. Well doing alittle research, I came up with the following:

AT&T: Offers the cheapest plans with roll over minutes, but you have to pay $15 for 200MB and $25 for 2GB for a data plan. So if you don't use that much data/are in wifi range, you should be good
Verizon: Offers the best among service and satisfaction. Kinda pricy with the plans tho.
Sprint: Unlimited data that isn't caped. Spotty service in certain areas.

The Plans:
Sprint offers the best plans with unlimited data and a decent amount of minutes for under $80 bucks. While AT&T doesn't have unlimited data, they do have lower rates for minutes so you could get just 200MB data and a few hundred minutes for under $50 bucks. Verizon does have variable texting plans where AT&T require a pay as you go or unlimited for $20. So if you don't use much data and want a smaller texting package, then Verizon will save you some cash.

So you weigh in on the pros and cons and decide which plan is best for you. Link

Apple iOS 5 Official Release Details

The iOS 5 is fricken' awesome. I personally downloaded the developers release last week and have been loving all the new features. The official release is Wednesday 10/12/11 (tomorrow/today depending on when I finish writing up this article.
It supposedly has 200+ new features, with alot of them seeming to be theme tweaking. But the main goal is to have the iPhone or iTouch reliant on the computer which is preferably a Mac in Apple's eyes (side note... i F*CKin' hate MACs... but love the iPhone). The top new features are iCloud, Notification, Reminders, and iMessage.

iCloud:
Apple wants you to start to store any files, photos, or music within their cloud that is advertised by the great Steve Jobs as being able to "just work." This would allow for all your devices to sync automatically. A new feature on the iOS 5 is photostream. So you snap a picture and then the BAM it is uploaded to your digital photo album and synced with all your devices. Another awesome addition is over the air backups. So every night you can set you phone to back itself up via WiFi (wifi only as of now) and a backup will be placed in your cloud for those just incase moments that you lose your iPhone or delete something, you can easily restore the files. And the best things is that you get 5GB of space FOR FREE.

Notifications & Reminders:
The first thing I noticed with the iOS 5 is when I received a text, I got a notification on the top of the screen (as seen here):

So you can simply tap the notification which can be text, facebook, ect. in order to go right to the app. Also when your phone is locked, notifications will list from any apps you have running so you can again tap the notification and it will go right to the app. Very neat and useful feature.
The reminders are pretty sweet. Any reminder or calender event, even weather is linked right to one neat place. All you need to do is pull down from the top of your main screen a a drop down screen will appear with all of your information. I can see how Siri with the iPhone 4S could make this feature much more useful.

iMessage:
iMessage is pretty neat. For those people who have an iTouch, you can have a text like interface via WiFi so that can be very useful. And for those who chat with others with iPhones, the iMessage uses the internet and not your texting plan (but who doesn't have unlimited texting now a-days anyways??). But regardless, its much faster when sometimes you have poor service because the messages are sent instantly.

There are other smaller features such as you can launch the camera from the lock screen and it has a built in photo touch up as well as move the keyboard to the middle of the screen for typing.

Stay tune for more updates.
