Even with the final release of Windows 8 months away, Microsoft always likes to release some previews that were seen in the Developers release a month ago. There are 15 impressive features that Windows 8 has over Windows 7.
1) Quick Boot Time
- The boot time is about 9x faster than Windows 7. A test done on a basic laptop with a 5400rpm hard drive took about 48 seconds for the Windows 7 boot loader while with Windows 8 it took only 9 seconds.
2) Shows alerts immediately
- Even when you computer is locked, you can set apps to show emails or calender messages. So now you can just quickly glance and see that you need to read an email or reminds you of a task for the day without even login on.
3) Picture Enabled Login Password
- Yes it might seem weird but you can set a picture to be your login password. The picture will load and you will choose a 'gesture' you would preform on the picture with the mouse. The system will recognize it and log you in. Of course there is the normal alphanumeric password if you'd like as well.
4) Dynamic Tile Desktop
- Your desktop will have many shortcut tiles to launch applications. The tiles will allow for instance alerts of email or change in size due to importance.
5) Sync all your settings
- Once you set one system up with Windows 8, you can sync all of your computers on your network to have the same settings! Easy!
6) Task Manager Upgrade
- More user friendly to see which apps is hogging your CPU, RAM and network bandwidth.
7) Closes Apps Automatically
- Windows 8 will see if you are running out of resources and monitor your system's performance. If your system is getting bogged down with many apps, it will save then close apps that aren't being used or haven't been used for awhile automatically.
8) Easy Share
- Sharing pictures or links have not been easier. You can easy share anything to Twitter, Facebook or any other social media account quickly and easily.
9) Easier File Management
- With Windows 8, you can easily modify a files properties easily with the Quick Access Toolbar
10) Automatic Backup
- You can set automatic file or whole drive backups easily with Windows 8.
11) System Wide SmartScreen
- This allows you to download anything and the smartscreen will check it for malicious virus/spyware/trojans, automatically blocking the download. This will be system wide so no matter what browser you are using it will work.
12) Mount ISO Files Easily
- You are able to burn and mount the .ISO files without any other additional software!
13) Pause Copying Files
- You can now pause any files that you are copying and then resume it later.
14) Fix complex problems easily
- Instead of re-installing a fresh Windows OS, you can just hit refresh your pc and it will reload a new windows for quickly repairing issues.
15) Microsoft Client Hyper-V
- It is an updated virtual machine that allows you to run other OS easier than any other method.
